New England Match Best Winning Streak Since Brady Years with Win Against New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores in the present year
New England matched their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady period as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's last year with the team in 2019
QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph bolsters the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had gone in front at Foxborough with QB Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's initial series
But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the triumph
